The Cobra Stair

Silicon Valley, CA

Schematic Design through Construction Documents were completed for this fast-paced workplace tenant improvement in Sunnyvale, developed in close collaboration between architecture, interiors, and engineering teams.

The project centered on rebranding a recently acquired building through a bold architectural intervention: a feature “Cobra Stair” in the entry lobby. Wrapped in a fire-rated enclosure and clad in color-ply plywood, the stair’s joint pattern— inspired by a wooden snake toy—creates a sense of movement and reveals layered color at each seam, transforming a code-driven element into a dynamic branded experience.

Balancing rapid design iteration with technical precision, the stair extends into the building to unify vertical circulation, with vivid color and sculpted openings encouraging use and creating a cohesive, memorable identity throughout the entry sequence.
