Stanford Studios
Santa Cruz, CA
This 105-unit SRO project in Midtown Santa Cruz was designed through entitlements with a focus on high-quality, community-oriented housing using prefabricated modular construction.
Inspired by the local “Santa Cruz-an” vernacular, the building balances neighborhood compatibility with a contemporary identity through careful massing, articulation, and a simple material palette accented with warmth and color. Modular design strategies create a faceted, repeatable unit system that achieves both efficiency and visual depth.
Ground-level elements—including greenery, covered walkways, bicycle amenities, and an active commercial frontage—enhance the pedestrian experience and contribute to a vibrant streetscape, delivering much-needed housing in a welcoming, context-sensitive design.
